Frequently asked questions

What is a business pitching competition?

Entrepreneurship is everywhere — everything from foreign food franchises like McDonald's to Malaysian conglomerates like Sime Darby Berhad, or even stalls at your nearest Ramadan bazaar!

All businesses have a common goal — which is to deliver a product or service that makes people's lives more convenient. Businesses rarely start out large and successful, as all businesses begin with a problem that needs to be solved. How is this problem solved? By creating a business model — a strategic blueprint that explains the value proposition behind the business and how the business generates profit.

A business pitching competition is a platform for your business ideas to be seen and heard by the world. When you participate in a business pitching competition, you need to present a business model. You will be given the opportunity to transform your revolutionary ideas into resilient business models. You need to convince the judges that your business model will be able to withstand real world challenges while generating profit*.

Who is behind Tiger Tank Malaysia?

Tiger Tank Malaysia is made entirely of a group of post-SPM students passionate about improving the accessibility of entrepreneurial knowledge in Malaysia. However, our flagship competition, the Tiger Tank Student Entrepreneur Competition, will be supported by sponsors and partners outside of our organisation.

Questions on the Tiger Tank Student Entrepreneur Competition

*What if my idea isn't a business — can I still enter?

Yes! Social enterprises, community initiatives, and passion projects are all eligible and encouraged, as long as they are self-sustainable — meaning they do not rely on financial support to continue operating.

Do I need an existing project to apply?

No. Fully built business ventures are welcome, but so is an early-stage idea, or even just a concept you've been thinking about. We're looking for potential just as much as progress.

Can I participate solo?

Absolutely — solo founders and teams of up to 5 members are both welcome. Keep in mind, however, that the standards for solo and team entries are judged the same.

Will pitches be recorded?

Finalist pitches from the live event may be shared on Tiger Tank's social media.
